I have an interesting origin story as far as this fan base goes. I was born in Los Angeles, CA for one thing. So you would think it would be an easy way to consider myself a fan of the best run franchise in baseball which currently serves as the home club of some of the best players in the league, and one of the best players this game has ever seen.
But no, my dad was born in Kent, OH. So, in all reality, I got fucked pretty good from the start. I grew up a sports fanatic and I wanted to be just like my dad. I wanted to cry every Sunday, pretend I enjoy a style of baseball that has been outdated for years, and ask my friends what all this “signing of free agents” was about.
I’m an enormous Guardians Fan who has only been to Cleveland once, when I graduated high school. My brother and cousins were rewarded for their hard work by going to Hawaii, Arizona, and Mexico. I very quickly chose beautiful Cleveland, where I visited Browns Training Camp and three Indians games. Two of which we lost in the last inning, both at the hands of Eric Fucking Hosmer.
In real life, I’m known as a painfully optimistic person. That is not what I will be here. I am using this as an outlet with a hope of connecting with some of you, sharing a sorrowful beer or seven, and maybe even getting a pitiful laugh out of you.
Enjoy.
P.S. At least Miles Straw and Austin Hedges still have a place to play, I guess.
